Confirmation

Our confirmation program is for those students who are 6th grade and older. It is an invitation to begin a journey of faith that is your own, not your parents’.  Through class discussion and friendship, worship, and service to others, students begin to understand what it means to follow Jesus.  Our two year confirmation program is designed to deepen and enhance students’ faith journeys with Jesus Christ and with the church community at Strongsville United Methodist Church.

MISSION STATEMENT: The goal of the confirmation journey at Strongsville UMC is to build a foundation for a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ.  There are four essential components:  learning and growing in Christian community, regularly participating in worship, developing Christian spiritual habits, and serving God and God’s world.

What
: Confirmation is a rite of passage, journey of faith, and entrance to full church membership for students.

Why: Just as students begin to form their own identities in middle school and beyond, they also begin to ask questions and claim their faith as their own.

Who
: Students in 6th grade and older.  That is, the first year that students are eligible to participate in confirmation is their 6th grade year, but any student older is welcome to join the class in the fall as well.  Many frequently do.

When: Class meets 2 Sundays/month.  See 1st year schedule or 2nd year schedule (below) for more details.  There are also some retreats, field trips, and family activities.

When: Registration is due at the end of August each year for the class that begins in the fall. Please contact the office to register.
