On October 10, 2021, we ceremonially broke ground for an expansion. The construction crews began work in early November 2021.

Join us anytime the weekend of May 5-7 to celebrate this new space and see what we are all about here at Strongsville UMC.  Highlights of the addition include:

  • A large space dedicated to youth, with a 15-foot quarter-round stage, a lounge area, a snack/coffee bar, and various game tables to encourage gathering and connection.
  • A unique space that will provide children with special needs a multisensory approach during Sunday School and the ReCharge respite program, featuring a classroom with an attached sensory room; a fully accessible bathroom, funded in part by a grant from Joni and Friends, is also available for those whose needs are not met by traditional public restrooms.
  • A nature-themed play area, including a two-story “tree,” for children to climb, explore, read a book or engage in imaginative play, as a complement to refreshed Sunday School classrooms.
  • A spacious main lobby, wired for sound and video, with a café, café seating, and multiple discussion pits to provide opportunities for hospitality and fellowship for members and visitors and for the many outside groups that use SUMC facilities for their own events.
  • New staff offices and meeting spaces to enable greater efficiency and ease of communication.
  • A room for adult and youth bell choirs as well as a kitchenette on the lower level.

Each open house day will have a highlighted area, but all ministries will be represented the entire weekend.
Below are photos rendered of the space.
