Next Camp: July 24-28, 2017
This camp will enables Northeast Ohio children ages 6–12 to attend the Royal Family Kids Camp (RFK), a week long overnight camp for children in the foster care system. There are more than 1,700 foster children in Cuyahoga County alone, many of whom have been neglected or abused.
Through the RFK camp, kids who have been abandoned and abused spend just five days at summer camp, but we hope they are changed forever. These children participate in everything a typical camp offers – fishing, swimming, games, activities, even a birthday party - things most Northeast Ohio children take for granted. And it all happens in a safe and nurturing environment. These children experience love and acceptance, as well as positive, healthy interactions with adults, sometimes for the first time in their lives.
This is the only RFK camp in Cuyahoga County. Strongsville United Methodist Church staffs the camp to serve kids in our community from OhioGuidestone (formerly Berea Children’s Home), Cuyahoga County and other sources.
Royal Family Kids is a 30-year-old organization that provides children in the foster care system with five days of residential summer camp. Today RFK serves over 7,100 campers every summer through churches that invest in 190 camps in 38 states and 11 foreign countries.
(Donations can also be sent to the church at 13500 Royalton Road, Strongsville OH 44136.
Checks should be made out to: SUMC for RFKC #317.)
