Respite Care for Families of
Children with Special Needs

This amazing ministry, called ReCharge, provides respite for two-and-a-half hours once a month on Friday nights for families to have free time while trained volunteers care for their child with special needs. This is offered for children of infant age through high school.

We also offer weekly Sunday School for children with special needs at 11:05 am for children age 3 through high school.
If you or anyone you know would like more information on getting registered for our monthly event, or attending weekly Sunday School.  Please contact the church office.
Strongsville UMC partners with Bay Presbyterian Church each year to host Night to Shine, a prom for people with special needs, which takes place the Friday before Valentine’s Day.  Volunteers serve in many different capacities.
Registration for both volunteers and guests usually begins in November.
The safety and well-being of your children is our first priority. We continually revise our supervisory guidelines to make sure that all adults and volunteers working with the children at SUMC are trained and have received the appropriate background checks. A copy of our Safe Sanctuary Guidelines – with which all volunteers at SUMC receive training – is available here.
