Won’t You Be My Neighbor?
Over the course of 2026, we have been exploring the theme of “Christ in Community”. We have experienced Christ’s presence as we have reflected, prayed, and spent time together, but we also know that there is a community outside our walls, too. Now is the time for us to go and be the presence of Christ in the neighborhood!
Over the course of the next six weeks, our collective focus will be on the book Missional: Joining God in the Neighborhood by Alan J. Roxburgh. As we continue the work of proclaiming God’s Kingdom here and now, I pray that we may also be challenged to bust outside of our sanctuary and truly become the neighbors we are called to be. I look forward to journeying together!

Church Wide Study: “Missional”
Join a small group and dig into the church-wide study together! All are welcome. The cost of the book is $18 and classes start the week of September 13. Register below.
- Mondays at 6 pm in the Parlor (led by Phil Weisbrod, before Meditative Worship)
- Tuesdays at 6:30 pm in room 22/23 (led by Jessica Van Lehn and Bethany Wilson)
- Tuesdays at 7 pm via Zoom (led by Pastor Nichole for virtual participation)
- Wednesdays from 9:30-10:30 am in room 22/23 (led by Randy Border)
- Fridays from 9:30-10:30 am in room 22/23 (led by Paula Fultz)
Video and Take Home Options
If you are not able to commit to a small group or would just like deeper engagement, you can also register for the following:
- A video study led by Leanne Gruss. This option is asynchronous and can be done at your own pace. Participants will be invited to watch a short video each week and will be emailed some questions to ponder. There will be also the opportunity to answer those questions and discuss insights with other participants via a Facebook group, but there is no requirement to do so. If you simply need some good material to reflect upon during your busy week, this is for you!
- A take home devotional kit that will help participants to further reflect upon the material that is covered on Sunday and beyond. Please see Pastor Lindsey with any questions.
Discipleship Leaders’ Small Group
In the same way that we are called to be present in our neighborhoods, we are also called to be in community with one another. Starting in 2027, we will be adopting a new discipleship group model that will invite our
faith family to be formed together outside of the church’s walls. As we prepare for these groups, we are offering a six-week experience in which those who hope to lead a discipleship group will have the chance to experience one for themselves and be trained in the fresh format. While leading discipleship groups will be a commitment, anyone who is interested in learning more is invited to come and see what it’s all about without pressure. This group will meet on Thursdays at 7 pm in the Holy Grounds Cafe and will be led by Pastor Lindsey.

Simpatico
What if church could happen around a game table, over a good book, or with a pen in hand? We believe that Christ is present both inside and outside the walls of the sanctuary and that community can take shape in all kinds of places. That’s the heart behind Simpatico; a new fresh expression of church built around the idea of being “on the same wavelength.”
Once a month, several groups gather at the same time to share in devotion, community, and the things they love. Each group meets in a different space and engages with God in ways that make sense for them. Right now, our Simpatico community includes a gaming group, a writers’ group, and a reading group, and we’re trusting God to add more in the future!
Each month, we share a common theme. In August, our theme was “Summer Road Trip,” inspired by the story of the Road to Emmaus. Some reflected on the story through board games, others through books, and others through words on a page. Different spaces, different interests, one body of Christ.
We’re hitting the pavement, finding new ways to share life with our neighbors, and discovering that we can encounter God together in new and unexpected ways! Want to get on the same wavelength? Come to our next gathering!

WOMEN’S HEALING CARE GROUP
Healing Care is a ministry which leads disciples through the process of praying through wounds and allowing God to bring wholeness. This women’s group will last for 13 weeks and will be held in The Oasis (Room 16 downstairs) and will start mid- September. Please see Becky Zatazelo with any questions.
W.O.V.E.N. ZOOM STUDY
W.O.V.E.N. is a multicultural women’s small group that brings together women from various churches and backgrounds to grow in their faith, build authentic friendships, and celebrate the unity we share in Christ. Through biblical study, meaningful discussion, prayer, and encouragement, we seek to nurture spiritual growth and Kingdom purpose. This study is offered through our neighbors at New Community Bible Fellowship.

CONFIRMATION PARENTS’ GROUP
Parents of all ages and stages are welcome to join a parenting study led by Pastor Abby, Melissa Postma, and Whitney Kaster. The group will gather at the same time as confirmation classes and will start on September 27 . The book for this session will be The Emotional Lives of Teenagers by Dr. Lisa Damour, and each participant is encouraged to provide their own copy of the book, but cost should never be a prohibition to participating. GALS ON THE TOWN
Following the success of Dudes’ Night Out, we are now giving the women a chance to fellowship and have some fun together! Gals on the Town will present the opportunity for women to gather at least once a month to do an activity together and build community. The first Gals on the Town event will be September 26 (more information to come) and this group will be led by Morgan Williams and Chelsea Kalinic.
